הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר־הָיָה אֶֽל־יִרְמְיָהוּ מֵאֵת יְהֹוָה (בשנת) [בַּשָּׁנָה] הָעֲשִׂרִית לְצִדְקִיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה הִיא הַשָּׁנָה שְׁמֹנֶֽה־עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה לִנְבֽוּכַדְרֶאצַּֽר׃
The word that came to Yirmeyahu from the Lord in the tenth year of Żidqiyyahu king of Yehuda, which was the eighteenth year of Nevukhadreżżar.

וְאָז חֵיל מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל צָרִים עַל־יְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם וְיִרְמְיָהוּ הַנָּבִיא הָיָה כָלוּא בַּחֲצַר הַמַּטָּרָה אֲשֶׁר בֵּֽית־מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָֽה׃
At that time, the king of Bavel’s army was besieging Yerushalayim: and Yirmeyahu the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard, which was in the house of the king of Yehuda.

בחצר המטרה. לשון בית המשמר:
אֲשֶׁר כְּלָאוֹ צִדְקִיָּהוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה לֵאמֹר מַדּוּעַ אַתָּה נִבָּא לֵאמֹר כֹּה אָמַר יְהֹוָה הִנְנִי נֹתֵן אֶת־הָעִיר הַזֹּאת בְּיַד מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶל וּלְכָדָֽהּ׃
For Żidqiyyahu king of Yehuda had shut him up, saying, why dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Bavel, and he shall take it;

וְצִדְקִיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה לֹא יִמָּלֵט מִיַּד הַכַּשְׂדִּים כִּי הִנָּתֹן יִנָּתֵן בְּיַד מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶל וְדִבֶּר־פִּיו עִם־פִּיו וְעֵינָיו אֶת־עֵינָו תִּרְאֶֽינָה׃

וּבָבֶל יוֹלִךְ אֶת־צִדְקִיָּהוּ וְשָׁם יִֽהְיֶה עַד־פׇּקְדִי אֹתוֹ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָה כִּי תִֽלָּחֲמוּ אֶת־הַכַּשְׂדִּים לֹא תַצְלִֽיחוּ׃ {פ}
