Devarim 26

26:16

This very day, Adonoy, your God, commands you to perform these statutes and the laws; you shall observe and perform them wholeheartedly and with your whole being.

This very day, Adonoy, your God, commands you to perform these statutes and the laws; you shall observe and perform them wholeheartedly and with your whole being.

Rashi

This very day, Adonoy, your God, commands you. Each day let them appear novel to you, as if, on that very day, you had been commanded to perform them.

You shall observe and perform them. A heavenly echo blesses him; ‘You have brought the first fruits on this day — may you reiterate next year.’

26:17

Adonoy, you have distinguised today to be a God for you and to go in His ways and to guard His statutes and His commandments and His laws, and to obey Him.

Adonoy, you have distinguised today to be a God for you and to go in His ways and to guard His statutes and His commandments and His laws, and to obey Him.

Rashi

You have distinguished . . . He has distinguished you. There is no compelling evidence concerning these words in Scripture; but it appears to me that the word denotes setting aside, distinguishing — you have distinguished Him, from the alien gods, to be your God, and He set you aside, for Himself, from the peoples of the earth, to be His treasured people. (Another interpretation, to which I have found evidence; it denotes glory, as in “All evildoers glorify themselves.”)

26:18

And Adonoy has distinguished you today to be for Him a treasured people as He said to you, and to guard all His commandments.

And Adonoy has distinguished you today to be for Him a treasured people as He said to you, and to guard all His commandments.

Rashi

As He said to you. “You shall be My treasure.”

26:19

וּֽלְתִתְּךָ עֶלְיוֹן עַל כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה לִתְהִלָּה וּלְשֵׁם וּלְתִפְאָרֶת וְלִֽהְיֹתְךָ עַם־קָדֹשׁ לַיהֹוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֵּֽר׃ {פ}

And to place you superior to all the nations whom He made, for praise and for renown and for glory, and so that you may be a people sanctified to Adonoy, your God, as He said.

And to place you superior to all the nations whom He made, for praise and for renown and for glory, and so that you may be a people sanctified to Adonoy, your God, as He said.

Rashi

And, so that you may be a people sanctified as He said. “You shall be sanctified to me.”
