וְעַתָּה ׀ שָׂחֲקוּ עָלַי צְעִירִים מִמֶּנִּי לְיָמִים אֲשֶׁר־מָאַסְתִּי אֲבוֹתָם לָשִׁית עִם־כַּלְבֵי צֹאנִֽי׃

העורקים ציה. שמבריחין אותן בימיו מקרב בני אדם לילך בחושך:

הקוטפים מלוח עלי שיח. בהיותם במדברות היו קוטפים להם מלוחים על אילנות היערים ואכולי', מלוח שם עשב הוא ובל' ארמי נקרא קקו"לין ובל' משנה מלוחים מצו"ש בלע"ז כאותה ששנינו (קדושין סו ע"א) העלו מלוחים על שלחנות של זהב:

בֵּין־שִׂיחִים יִנְהָקוּ תַּחַת חָרוּל יְסֻפָּֽחוּ׃

כי יתרי. פתח יתר קשתי פתח (כמו שאמרתי למעלה וקשתי תחליף) כלומר כחי התיש מי שבידו לעשות:
ורסן מפני שלחו. רסני שהיו מרוסנים בו שלחוהו מפני כי אינם יראים מעתה ממני:
עַל־יָמִין פִּרְחַח יָקוּמוּ רַגְלַי שִׁלֵּחוּ וַיָּסֹלּוּ עָלַי אׇרְחוֹת אֵידָֽם׃

על ימין. על ימיני עומדים פרחים קטנים כשאר הדיוטים שאיני חשוב בעיניהם להכנע מפני:
רגלי שלחו. אם המקום צר להם דוחפים אותי הלאה:
ויסולו עלי אורחות אידם. כל דרך נבלה שיש להם לעשות עושים מסילתן לפני ואצלי ולא ייראו:
נָֽתְסוּ נְֽתִיבָתִי לְהַוָּתִי יֹעִילוּ לֹא עֹזֵר לָֽמוֹ׃

נתסו נתיבתי. הטוב' ואין חוששין לה, נתסו כמו נתצו וסמ"ך מתחלפ' בצד"י:
להוותי יועילו. להקניטני מוסיפין:
כְּפֶרֶץ רָחָב יֶאֱתָיוּ תַּחַת שֹׁאָה הִתְגַּלְגָּֽלוּ׃

הׇהְפַּךְ עָלַי בַּלָּהוֹת תִּרְדֹּף כָּרוּחַ נְדִבָתִי וּכְעָב עָבְרָה יְשֻׁעָתִֽי׃

בְּרׇב־כֹּחַ יִתְחַפֵּשׂ לְבוּשִׁי כְּפִי כֻתׇּנְתִּי יַאַזְרֵֽנִי׃

יתחפש לבושי. משתנה לבושי גלד אחר גלד כשאדם פושט את בגדיו ולובש בגדים אחרים משונים מראשונים קורא אותם בגדי חופש כמו (מלכים א כב) התחפש ובא במלחמ' ומתורגם אישתני:
כפי כתנתי יאזרני. שאוזר ומעניק צוארי כן יאזרני אותי לבושי כל סביבי:
הֹרָנִי לַחֹמֶר וָאֶתְמַשֵּׁל כֶּעָפָר וָאֵֽפֶר׃

הורני לחומר. הורני ילמדני השחין הזה לישב כמו בחומר, כמו שאמרנו (למעלה ב) והוא יושב בתוך האפר ד"א הורני לחומר פי' השליכני לשון ירה בים (שמות טו):
ואתמשל. נדמיתי ובמדרש רבי תנחומא אמר ר' ברכיה סרס את המקרא אני נמשלתי לאברהם בצדקתי שקרא עצמו עפר ואפר (בראשית יא) והוא דנני כרשעי דור הפלגה (שמרדו בו בבנין המגדל) שכתוב בהם והחמר היה להם לחומר (שם יא):

עמדתי. לראות לשתוק ולהבין כמו ובפתחו עמדו כל העם ולא ענו עוד (נחמיה ח׳:ה׳):

אך לא בעי. ובהשחת' היה רגיל השופט לשלוח יד כמו לעי השדה:
אם בפידו. אם היה שולח פיד שהוא שבר על בריותיו:
להן שוע. היה משעשען תנחומין במקצת וכן פירשו רבותינו אין הקב"ה מכה אומה ומושיב' צדו אלא מביא פיד לזו ומשעשע' בחברתה שלקתה כבר ומתנחמת בה הביא פיד לאשור ושעשע במצרי' שנא' התיטבי מנא אמון (נחום ג׳:ח׳) הביא פיד למצרי' ושעשע באשור שנא' הנה אשור בלבנון (יחזק' לא) ועוד יפתר להן שוע תפלה ותחינה מועלת בהם:
אִם־לֹא בָכִיתִי לִקְשֵׁה־יוֹם עָֽגְמָה נַפְשִׁי לָאֶבְיֽוֹן׃
Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor?
