ישאו יחד. עם משקל שכנגדם ואפי' הם חול ימים יכבד ממנו:

חמתם. ארס שלהם דרך פרסיים לתת ארס של נחש בחציהם:
הֲיִֽנְהַק־פֶּרֶא עֲלֵי־דֶשֶׁא אִם יִגְעֶה־שּׁוֹר עַל־בְּלִילֽוֹ׃

הינהק פרא וגו'. כלומר וכי לחנם אני צועק והלא בהמה שוטה אינה נוהקת בזמן שיש לה דשא וכן שור לא יגעה אא"כ אין לו בליל תבואה, בפרא נוהג ל' נהק ובשור ל' געיי':
הֲיֵאָכֵל תָּפֵל מִבְּלִי־מֶלַח אִם־יֶשׁ־טַעַם בְּרִיר חַלָּמֽוּת׃
Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

היאכל תפל. דבר שהוא בלי מלח וצריך להמליחו ולא נמלח קרוי תפל בל' משנה (שבת קכח חולין קיג ע"א נדרים נא):
אם יש טעם בריר. הבא מחמת החלמות כשאוכל דבר חזק שמרבה ריר ורוק כגון שום כלומר וכי סבורים אתם שיהו מתקבלות תשובות שאין בהם ממש, ריר, כמו (שמואל א כ״א:י״ד) וירד רירו על זקנו:
חלמות. כמו (לקמן לט) יחלמו בניהם ל' חוזק ויש פותרים ל' חלום ואין נראה בעיני מפני דגשות הלמ"ד:
מֵאֲנָה לִנְגּוֹעַ נַפְשִׁי הֵמָּה כִּדְוֵי לַחְמִֽי׃

מאנה לנגוע נפשי. כלומר הרבה יש לי לזעוק כי דברים שהיתה נפשי ממאנת וקצה לנגוע בהן ל' נגיעה:
המה כדוי לחמי. המה לי עתה נכונים למשמש בהם כמפות שלחני שלחמי נתון בהם כדוי ל' ויכרות את מדויהם (שמואל ב י׳:ד׳) כ"ש מפי רבי משלם רופא, ע"א כמפות שמסננין בהן את התבשיל ומאכל זב מהם, דוי לשון דוה זבה:
לחמי. כל מאכל קרוי לחם כמו עבד לחם רב (דניאל ה׳:א׳) וכמו נשחיתה עץ בלחמו (ירמיהו י״א:י״ט) ותירגם יונתן סמא דמות' במיכליה ל"א המה כמבטי מאכלי, כלומר גס לבי להסתכל בהם ברימה כאשר אני מסתכל במאכלי ולשון משנה הוא ומסגו כי דוו במסכת שבת:
מִֽי־יִתֵּן תָּבוֹא שֶׁאֱלָתִי וְתִקְוָתִי יִתֵּן אֱלֽוֹהַּ׃
Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!

ותהי עוד נחמתי. ותהי עוד זאת לי לנחמה:
ואסלדה בחילה ולא יחמול. ואבקש ממנו סליחה שלא יחמול מלבצעני ואני איני מוצא לו דמיון במקרא זולתי שבלשון משנה הוא לשון ירא ודואג שהיד סולדת בהן מלכוות ברותחין כלומר אתחולל בדאג' ובחילה בקשה זו:
כי לא כחדתי. ולא חסרתי אמריו מלקיימן:
מַה־כֹּחִי כִֽי־אֲיַחֵל וּמַה־קִּצִּי כִּֽי־אַאֲרִיךְ נַפְשִֽׁי׃

מה כחי. חזק לסבול:
כי איחל. כי אמתין עד יום רפואה או עד יום מיתה:

נפשי. הוא יצר תאות אדם בכמה מקומות כמו אם יש את נפשכם (שם כג):

האם אין עזרתי בי. לשון תימא הגם זאת תבא עלי שאין עזרתי בי אותם ריעים שהיו לי לעזרני אינם בעזרתי:
ותושיה נדחה. עצה של יועצים נדחה ממני שקמה עלי להקניט ולדחות:
לַמָּס מֵרֵעֵהוּ חָסֶד וְיִרְאַת שַׁדַּי יַעֲזֽוֹב׃

בְּעֵת יְזֹרְבוּ נִצְמָתוּ בְּחֻמּוֹ נִדְעֲכוּ מִמְּקוֹמָֽם׃

אמרי יושר. אם אמרי יושר הייתם אומרים היו מקובלים אבל עתה מה יוכיח הוכח מכם, כל תוכח' שבאיוב בירור הדברים הם ומעמידים על האמת:
הַלְהוֹכַח מִלִּים תַּחְשֹׁבוּ וּלְרוּחַ אִמְרֵי נֹאָֽשׁ׃
