צדקת ישרים תצילם ובהות בוגדים ילכדו. בהוות שהם עושים הם נלכדים והמקרא מסורס הוא כלומר ובוגדים בהוות ילכדו:
בְּמוֹת אָדָם רָשָׁע תֹּאבַד תִּקְוָה וְתוֹחֶלֶת אוֹנִים אָבָֽדָה׃

במות אדם רשע תאבד תקוה. תקות כל הבוטחים בו:
ותוחלת אונים אבדה. תוחלת בניו שהם אונו אבדה כי בזכותו לא תבוא להם טובה אבל במות צדיקים יש לבניהם מבטח בצדקתם:

תרום קרת. תתקיים תקרת הבית בגבהה מלפול בעוד שהיו מלכי יהודה ישרים העמידה תפילתם את בית המקדש:

באין תחבולות. כשהצרה באה על ישראל ואינן נותנין לב להבין להתענות ולעשות תשובה יפול עם:

אֵֽשֶׁת־חֵן תִּתְמֹךְ כָּבוֹד וְעָרִיצִים יִתְמְכוּ־עֹֽשֶׁר׃

שכר. קרוניא"ל בלעז כאדם הסוכר אמת המים כדי ללקוט דגים ובטוח שימצא שם דגים הרבה ודומה לו כל עושי שכר אגמי נפש (ישעיהו י״ט:י׳):
כֵּן־צְדָקָה לְחַיִּים וּמְרַדֵּף רָעָה לְמוֹתֽוֹ׃
