Mishlei 3:1-10

3:1

בְּנִי תּוֹרָתִי אַל־תִּשְׁכָּח וּמִצְוֺתַי יִצֹּר לִבֶּֽךָ׃

My son, forget not my Tora; but let thy heart keep my commandments:

3:2

כִּי אֹרֶךְ יָמִים וּשְׁנוֹת חַיִּים וְשָׁלוֹם יוֹסִיפוּ לָֽךְ׃

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

Rashi

אורך ימים וגו'. ושלום יוסיפו לך תורתי ומצותי:

3:3

חֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶת אַֽל־יַעַזְבֻךָ קׇשְׁרֵם עַל־גַּרְגְּרוֹתֶיךָ כׇּתְבֵם עַל־לוּחַ לִבֶּֽךָ׃

Let not loyal love and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thy heart:

3:4

וּמְצָא־חֵן וְשֵֽׂכֶל־טוֹב בְּעֵינֵי אֱלֹהִים וְאָדָֽם׃

so shalt thou find grace and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

3:5

בְּטַח אֶל־יְהֹוָה בְּכׇל־לִבֶּךָ וְאֶל־בִּינָתְךָ אַל־תִּשָּׁעֵֽן׃

Trust in the Lord with all thy heart; and do not lean upon thy own understanding.

Rashi

בטח אל ה'. ופזר מעותיך לבקש לך רב ללמוד ממנו ואל בינתך אל תשען:

3:6

בְּכׇל־דְּרָכֶיךָ דָעֵהוּ וְהוּא יְיַשֵּׁר אֹֽרְחֹתֶֽיךָ׃

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

3:7

אַל־תְּהִי חָכָם בְּעֵינֶיךָ יְרָא אֶת־יְהֹוָה וְסוּר מֵרָֽע׃

Be not wise in thy own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

Rashi

אל תהי חכם בעיניך. להיות מואס בדברי מוכיחך:

3:8

רִפְאוּת תְּהִי לְשׇׁרֶּךָ וְשִׁקּוּי לְעַצְמוֹתֶֽיךָ׃

It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Rashi

רפאות תהי לשרך. החכמה, שרך כמו (שיר ו) שררך וזהו טיבורך:

ושקוי לעצמותיך. הוא המוח כענין שנאמר ומוח עצמותיו ישוקה (איוב כא):

3:9

כַּבֵּד אֶת־יְהֹוָה מֵהוֹנֶךָ וּמֵרֵאשִׁית כׇּל־תְּבוּאָתֶֽךָ׃

Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thy increase:

Rashi

מהונך. מכל מה שחננך אפי' מקול ערב (אל תקרי מהונך אלא מגרונך):

ומראשית. אלו תרומות ומעשרות:

3:10

וְיִמָּלְאוּ אֲסָמֶיךָ שָׂבָע וְתִירוֹשׁ יְקָבֶיךָ יִפְרֹֽצוּ׃ {פ}

so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy vats shall burst with new wine.
