וַיְהִי דְבַר־יְהֹוָה אֵלַי לֵאמֹֽר׃
Moreover the word of the Lord came to me saying,

בֶּן־אָדָם לַחְמְךָ בְּרַעַשׁ תֹּאכֵל וּמֵימֶיךָ בְּרׇגְזָה וּבִדְאָגָה תִּשְׁתֶּֽה׃
Son of man, eat thy bread with quaking, and drink thy water with trembling and with anxiety;

וְאָמַרְתָּ אֶל־עַם הָאָרֶץ כֹּֽה־אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה לְיוֹשְׁבֵי יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם אֶל־אַדְמַת יִשְׂרָאֵל לַחְמָם בִּדְאָגָה יֹאכֵלוּ וּמֵימֵיהֶם בְּשִׁמָּמוֹן יִשְׁתּוּ לְמַעַן תֵּשַׁם אַרְצָהּ מִמְּלֹאָהּ מֵחֲמַס כׇּֽל־הַיֹּשְׁבִים בָּֽהּ׃
and say to the people of the land, Thus says the Lord God of the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, and of the land of Yisra᾽el; They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink their water with appalment, that her land may be desolate, bare of its fullness, because of the violence of all that dwell in it.

מחמס כל היושבים בה. בעון חמס יושביה:
וְהֶעָרִים הַנּֽוֹשָׁבוֹת תֶּחֱרַבְנָה וְהָאָרֶץ שְׁמָמָה תִֽהְיֶה וִידַעְתֶּם כִּֽי־אֲנִי יְהֹוָֽה׃ {פ}
And the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be desolate; and you shall know that I am the Lord.
