הוֹי בָּנִים סֽוֹרְרִים נְאֻם־יְהֹוָה לַעֲשׂוֹת עֵצָה וְלֹא מִנִּי וְלִנְסֹךְ מַסֵּכָה וְלֹא רוּחִי לְמַעַן סְפוֹת חַטָּאת עַל־חַטָּֽאת׃
Woe to the rebellious children, says the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that prepare a plan but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

לנסוך מסכה. להמשיל עליהם מושל ולא רוחי ודעתי בדבר ומהו הנסוך הוא פרעה:
הַהֹֽלְכִים לָרֶדֶת מִצְרַיִם וּפִי לֹא שָׁאָלוּ לָעוֹז בְּמָעוֹז פַּרְעֹה וְלַחְסוֹת בְּצֵל מִצְרָֽיִם׃
that walk to go down into Miżrayim, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Par῾o, and to trust in the shadow of Miżrayim!

ההולכים לרדת מצרים. על הושע בן אלה אשר שלח מלאכים אל סוא מלך מצרים (מלכים ב י״ז:ד׳):
לרדת מצרים. ארץ ישראל גבוהה מכל הארצו' דבר אחר ירידה היא להם:
ולחסות. להתכסות אבריאי"ר בלע"ז:
וְהָיָה לָכֶם מָעוֹז פַּרְעֹה לְבֹשֶׁת וְהֶחָסוּת בְּצֵל־מִצְרַיִם לִכְלִמָּֽה׃

כי היו בצוען שריו. של מלך ישראל בשליחות למלך מצרים:
חנס. היא תחפנחס:
כֹּל הֹבִאישׁ עַל־עַם לֹא־יוֹעִילוּ לָמוֹ לֹא לְעֵזֶר וְלֹא לְהוֹעִיל כִּי לְבֹשֶׁת וְגַם־לְחֶרְפָּֽה׃ {ס}
