הֵן אֶרְאֶלָּם צָעֲקוּ חֻצָה מַלְאֲכֵי שָׁלוֹם מַר יִבְכָּיֽוּן׃
Behold, the mighty ones shall cry outside: ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.

מלאכי שלום. מלאכי שליחותם שהיו רגילין לבשר שלום מר יבכיון ואומרים נשמו מסילות שבת עובר אורח:
נָשַׁמּוּ מְסִלּוֹת שָׁבַת עֹבֵר אֹרַח הֵפֵר בְּרִית מָאַס עָרִים לֹא חָשַׁב אֱנֽוֹשׁ׃

מאס ערים. ביזה בעיניו כל שונא אינו חושב אנוש:
אָבַל אֻמְלְלָה אָרֶץ הֶחְפִּיר לְבָנוֹן קָמַל הָיָה הַשָּׁרוֹן כָּֽעֲרָבָה וְנֹעֵר בָּשָׁן וְכַרְמֶֽל׃ {ס}
The earth mourns and languishes: Levanon is ashamed and withers: the Sharon is like the ῾Arava; and Bashan and Karmel shake off their leaves.
