צַדִּיק אַתָּה יְהֹוָה כִּי אָרִיב אֵלֶיךָ אַךְ מִשְׁפָּטִים אֲדַבֵּר אֹתָךְ מַדּוּעַ דֶּרֶךְ רְשָׁעִים צָלֵחָה שָׁלוּ כׇּל־בֹּגְדֵי בָֽגֶד׃
Right wouldst Thou be, O Lord, if I were to contend with Thee: yet I will reason these points of justice with Thee: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

מדוע דרך רשעים צלחה. שנתת גדולה לנבוכדנצר הרשע ותצליחהו להחריב ביתך, ד"א על אנשי ענתות היה צועק וקורא תגר:
שלו. לשון שלוה:
נְטַעְתָּם גַּם־שֹׁרָשׁוּ יֵלְכוּ גַּם־עָשׂוּ פֶרִי קָרוֹב אַתָּה בְּפִיהֶם וְרָחוֹק מִכִּלְיוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
Thou hast planted them, indeed, they have taken root: they grow, indeed they bring forth fruit: Thou art near in their mouth, and far from their inward parts.

וְאַתָּה יְהֹוָה יְדַעְתָּנִי תִּרְאֵנִי וּבָחַנְתָּ לִבִּי אִתָּךְ הַתִּקֵם כְּצֹאן לְטִבְחָה וְהַקְדִּשֵׁם לְיוֹם הֲרֵגָֽה׃ {פ}
But Thou, O Lord, knowst me: Thou hast seen me, and tried my heart towards Thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.

ואתה ה' ידעתני. גם על אנשי ענתות העומדים עלי עזרני כי אתה ידעתני:
התיקם כצאן לטבחה. נתקם מן החיים למות דישטאקאלו"ש בלעז כמו עד התיקנו אותם מן העיר (יהושע ח׳:ו׳):
והקדשם. הזמינם:
צדיק אתה ה' כי אריב אליך. כשאתווכח עמך ידעתי כי תצדק בדבריך אך חפץ אני לדבר משפטים אותך להודיעני דרכך:
