Divrei HaYamim I 14 דברי הימים א י״ד

Now Ḥuram king of Żor sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him a house.

And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Yisra᾽el, for his kingdom was highly exalted, for the sake of his people Yisra᾽el.

And David took more wives at Yerushalayim: and David begot more sons and daughters.

Now these are the names of his children whom he had in Yerushalayim; Shammua, and Shovav, Natan, and Shelomo,

and Yivĥar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,

and Noga, and Nefeg, and Yafia,

and Elishama, and Be῾elyada, and Elifelet.

And when the Pelishtim heard that David was anointed king over all Yisra᾽el, all the Pelishtim went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.

And the Pelishtim came and made a raid in the valley of Refa᾽im.

And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Pelishtim? and wilt Thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thy hand.

So they came up to Ba῾al-perażim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a bursting flood of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Ba῾al-perażim.

And they left their gods there and David gave command, that they should be burned with fire.

And the Pelishtim once again made a raid in the valley.

So David inquired again of God; and God said to him, Do not go up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them opposite the bakha trees.

And let it be, when thou shalt hear a sound of marching in the tops of the bakha trees, then thou shalt go out to battle: for God has gone out before thee to smite the camp of the Pelishtim.

David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the camp of the Pelishtim from Giv῾on as far as Gezer.

And David’s renown went out into all the lands; and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.
