Divrei HaYamim I 4 דברי הימים א ד׳

The sons of Yehuda; Pereż, Ḥeżron, and Karni, and Ḥur, and Shoval.

And Re᾽aya the son of Shoval begot Yaĥat; and Yaĥat begot Aĥumay, and Lahad. These are the families of the Żora῾ti.

And these were of the father of ῾Etam; Yizre᾽el, and Yishma, and Yidbash: and the name of their sister was Hażżelelponi;

and Penu᾽el the father of Gedor, and ῾Eżer the father of Ḥusha. These are the sons of Ḥur, the firstborn of Efrata, the father of Bet-leĥem.

And Ashĥur the father of Teqo῾a had two wives, Ḥel᾽a and Na῾ara.

And Na῾ara bore him Aĥuzzam, and Ḥefer, and Temeni, and Aĥashtari. These were the sons of Na῾ara.

And the sons of Ḥel᾽a were, Żeret, and Żoĥar, and Etnan.

And Qoż begot ῾Anuv, and Żoveva, and the families of Aĥarĥel the son of Harum.

And Ya῾beż was more honourable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Ya῾beż, saying, Because I bore him with pain.

And Ya῾beż called on the God of Yisra᾽el, saying, Oh that Thou wouldst bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that Thy hand might be with me, and that Thou wouldst keep me from harm, that it may not hurt me! And God granted him that which he requested.

And Keluv the brother of Shuĥa begot Meĥir, who was the father of Eshton.

And Eshton begot Bet-rafa, and Paseaĥ, and Teĥinna the father of ῾Ir-naĥash. These are the men of Rekha.

And the sons of Qenaz; ῾Otni᾽el, and Seraya: and the sons of ῾Otni᾽el: Ḥatat.

And Me῾onotay begot ῾Ofra: and Seraya begot Yo᾽av, the father of the Ge-ĥarashim; for they were craftsmen.

And the sons of Kalev the son of Yefunne; ῾Iru, Ela, and Na῾am: and the sons of Ela, even Qenaz.

And the sons of Yehallel᾽el; Zif, and Zifa, Tirya, and Asar᾽el.

And the sons of ῾Ezra were, Yeter, and Mered, and ῾Efer, and Yalon: and she conceived Miryam, and Shammay, and Yishbaĥ the father of Eshtemoa.

And his wife Yehudiyya bore Yered the father of Gedor, and Ḥever the father of Sokho, and Yequti᾽el the father of Zanoaĥ. And these are the sons of Bitya the daughter of Par῾o whom Mered took.

And the sons of the wife of Hodiyya the sister of Naĥam, the father of Qe῾ila the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Ma῾akhatite.

And the sons of Shimon were, Amnon, and Rinna, Ben-ĥanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Yish῾i were, Zoĥet, and Ben-zoĥet.

The sons of Shela the son of Yehuda were, ῾Er the father of Lekha, and La῾ada the father of Maresha, and the families of the house of the linen workers, of the house of Ashbea,

and Yoqim, and the men of Kozeva, and Yo᾽ash, and Saraf, who ruled in Mo᾽av, and Yashuvi-leĥem (But the records are ancient.)

These were the potters, and those who dwelt among plantations and hedges: there they dwelt, occupied with the king’s work.

The sons of Shim῾on were, Nemu᾽el, and Yamin, Yariv, Zeraĥ and Sha᾽ul:

Shallum his son, Mivsam his son, Mishma his son.

And the sons of Mishma; Ḥammu᾽el his son, Zakkur his son, Shim῾i his son.

And Shim῾i had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers had not many children, nor did all their family multiply, like the children of Yehuda.

And they dwelt at Be᾽er-sheva, and Molada, and Ḥażar-shu῾al.

and at Bilha, and at ῾Eżem, and at Tolad,

and at Betu᾽el, and at Ḥorma, and at Żiqlag,

and at Bet-markavot, and Ḥażar-susim, and at Bet-bir᾽i, and at Sha῾arayim. These were their cities until the reign of David.

And their settlements were, ῾Etam, and ῾Ayin, Rimmon, and Tokhen, and ῾Ashan; five cities:

and all their settlements that were round about the same cities as far as Ba῾al. These were their habitations, and their genealogy.

And Meshovav, and Yamlekh, and Yosha the son of Amażya.

And Yo᾽el, and Yehu the son of Yoshivya, the son of Seraya, the son of ῾Asi᾽el,

and Elyo῾enay, and Ya῾aqova, and Yeshoĥaya, and ῾Asaya, and ῾Adi᾽el, and Yesimi᾽el, and Benaya.

and Ziza the son of Shif῾i, the son of Allon, the son of Yedaya, the son of Shimri, the son of Shema῾ya;

these mentioned by their names were princes in their families: and the house of their fathers increased greatly.

And they went to the entrance of Gedor, as far as the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

And they found rich, good pasture, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ḥam had dwelt there of old.

And these written by name came in the days of Yeĥizqiyyahu king of Yehuda, and smote their tents, and the Me῾unim who were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their stead: because there was pasture there for their flocks.

And some of them, of the sons of Shim῾on, five hundred men, went to mount Se῾ir, having as their leaders Pelatya, and Ne῾arya, and Refaya, and ῾Uzzi᾽el, the sons of Yish῾i.

And they smote the remnant of ῾Amaleq who had escaped, and dwelt there to this day.
